Move it Move it Move it!!!

I laugh thinking of the crazy little creatures in the Madagascar movie…..singing their little “move it” song…..and dancing around.

I have decided this year is truly going to be about JUST movement.  Not some program, some DVDs, some plan…..just waking up and moving!

I respect and understand some people need structure, need organization, need to know exactly what they are going to do….I do to…trust me!

BUT….I think for me as I heal my adrenal glands and repair my thyroid the best plan of action is do what feels right and free and enjoyable each and everyday.  My heart and soul is saying to go back to the basics.  Go back to when I would get up in the morning do my push ups, lunges, jumping jacks and mini trampoline…..for 15-20 minutes….then stretch…..walk around the rest of my day from task to task….being a person in motion.  A person who bursts in the middle of the day with some jumping jacks or pull ups.  A person who spontaneously cranks up the music after math with my daughter and giggle all our frustrations out.  A person who decides to go jump on the big trampoline in the evening before I cook dinner.  And  a person who sits and does yoga or stretch while I watch a little bit of evening TV.

We get so caught up in GOALS…..and EXERCISE….that we forget to just BE….to just MOVE….to just ENJOY!  

Now if I wake up one morning or if I am going about an afternoon and I FEEL drawn to do a specific video I own…then I will do it…because I will be listening to my body…..I will be listening to that internal joy saying this sounds great!   But I WILL NOT do something because it feels like I need to BEAT MYSELF UP for what ever…….

Have you ever thought about that!? Have you ever thought about why a particular exercise program might not being working for you?!  Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe it is because your heart and soul aren’t in it….therefore your body and mind are not receiving any good energy from it.

 How can a person possibly thrive if there is no joy in it!?

 How can your body possibly become the amazing being and soul you desire it to do if you continually put it through “punishment” you don’t enjoy or are not in the mood for!  

Here is something truly not revolutionary….but just not spoken about enough...DO WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL AMAZING.…with no apologies.   SOOOO….if that means dancing while you clean house…..walking backwards on your street…..giggling and climbing trees…..or just good old fashioned running and weight lifting…..
DO WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO MOVE!!!

I know that is all I am going to focus on this year…..

PS….I am sure you have been noticing I have been using books for my picture shots.  These are the books I promised I would post about on FaceBook.  What I find amazing about this book is it truly goes in line in what I said above!  To do what you enjoy!!!!

Challenge of a lifetime: Motivation through Movement

I started a new workout program today.  I can’t wait to share more about it once I’ve gotten through at least the first phase.  But until then, think about what kind of challenges have you given yourself recently physically? Mentally? Spiritually?

I was thinking about challenges and how I came to this journey of living Paleo.  I realized in a way my Daniel Fast, even though it was for spiritual reasons, was a challenge I made for myself; but it was a commitment I had made to God.

Through that Daniel Fast I discovered my health, not only spiritually but physically.  When I had reintroduced meat, slowly, I was able to see how strong I was able to become.  It allowed me to how much protein I needed or didn’t need on a day to day basis.

Now, when I do a Daniel Fast it truly is a sacrifice, because I do love my meat!

It is possible for a Paleo to do a Daniel Fast and still stay healthy and even come out stronger for it.

I guess my point behind this, is it had me to thinking, how with a spiritual fast of any sort (a day, a week, a month, etc) (Daniel, absolute, skipped meals, etc)…..they all do have a beginning and an end.

BUT….a spiritual fast is usually sought for the prayer power aspect.   Yes, there are great health benefits that go along with it.  After all everyone’s liver and kidneys need a break from time to time from having to work so hard.

Yet, for me a fast now consists of me giving up stuff that is within my Paleo Plate.   And that is a sacrifice…..cause I love meat, I love coffee, I love some nuts, I love honey, I love wine :)…..but I know God will honor my sacrifice.

So, even if any of those items above are something I only have a couple times a week, by making that conscience decision to abstain from it for a period of time…..I am saying to God, “I am here, I am listening to you!  I have so much to ask of you, yet I want to also listen to your will!”

I wonder if that is how St. Teresa of Avila felt?

Did she realize making personal sacrifices are actually rewarding because of the amazing moments and clarity you receive?

What motivates you to move?
What drives you to get up in the morning to exercise?
What type of exercise/movement gives you enjoyment?

Write up an exercise/movement plan today!  Move in a way that motivates you!

Monday: Moving for a cause!

Ok….I’m not a huge advocate of running too much any more but I do find 5K’s not too big of a deal. 

A person can truly train for one with only running once maybe twice a week.  A person can keep their running under 30 minutes therefore minimizing cortisol release.  
And I am a huge advocate of doing something for a goal….for a cause…a good cause!
So check out what’s going on here in Amarillo this Saturday the 6th….whether you walk it, run it, walk and run it….do it for the cause!
