2016: Un-Apologetically Me Goals!

I LOVE JUMPING JACKS!
I LOVE DOING ALL VARIATIONS OF SQUATS!
I LOVE LUNGES!
I LOVE PUSH UPS!
I LOVE PULL UPS!
I LOVE PUSHING MY MUSCLES TO BE THE STRONGEST THEY CAN BE!

I use to think having muscles was unfeminine….WRONG!
My muscles use to produce feelings of “ugh…I look “fat”….bulky….”….all sorts of negative adjectives we tend to associate with when we are being critical of our bodies.

NOW…I have amazing freedom with my strength!

I have learned to TRULY LOVE each season with my body!

I love the amazing strength I feel with my HIIT workouts.  I am truly at peace with not running like I did 3 years ago right now.

I find my muscles have given me a freedom to feel feminine and strong all at the same time!

We each have muscles that grow, develop, strengthen, work for us in different ways.  We need to each embrace the design, shape, form of your body…your muscles….

FIND THE FREEDOM of loving each inch of your body!

Find the freedom of loving the workout that allows you to express the true you….that allows you to feel true freedom and joy in your movements, in your muscles!

My 2016 fitness goals are to continue to MOVE in a way that helps me feel un-apologetically me…

STRONG
AMAZING
POWERFUL
FEMININE
WOMAN
BEAUTIFUL
ME!!!

Dynamic Daughters: In Need of Energy!

ADRENAL FATIGUE! This is not something to play with.  There is so much information out there but let me tell you it is real.

In January my doctor pretty much gave me strict orders to lower my stress and to be in bed by 9 and not be up before 6.  He also said to do restorative movement not running or HIIT kind of exercising. I needed to reduce my caffeine and alcohol.  Blah blah blah…I listened pretty strict for the first month and then we entered into lent and again I was able to keep to the dietary needs and sleep but I started allowing running and more intense workouts to creep back into my life.  After Easter more red meat…more coffee..more wine…pushing the bedtime…and I found myself hitting a wall again.
I started reading Dr. Sara Gottfried newest book on the hormone reset and the more I read it the more I thought about my adrenals; I started researching again.
I realized I must truly give my body the rest it is begging me for.  I continue to be en-flamed.  And all  I’ve been reading about how if I don’t get my adrenals in full health before I enter menopause it will make that stage in life much more difficult. Thus I MUST not think of vanity right now but about health…true internal health!
Everything I’ve been learning about the symptoms and causes of adrenal fatigue make total sense to me.  It confirms for me that I did push myself too much  3 years ago. I can’t take it back. What  I can do is accept that I must do the right thing for myself now and be healthy: mind body soul.
It’s the perfect opportunity for me to truly live a life of saying I love myself no matter what.  That I am still strong…still healthy…still amazing…even if I don’t ever run again.
My trying to recover from Adrenal Fatigue has brought out healing and facing body images issues that have been freeing.  (More on body image and it’s relationship to Dysmorphic Disorder in a future post).

I know I am healthy.  I know I am beautiful.  I know I am amazing.  I have amazing strength.  I look great.
I had to face the fact that between my bio-hacking experiments (more on that in another post) and my adrenal fatigue  has created a huge hormonal mess… I find myself not always feeling great about what I see.
But this is where faith …tapping into my spiritual life… is vitally important.  Because I don’t let those negative voices sway me. I tell them to go away…I look myself in the mirror…I smile and I say: I am beautifully made!!!!!
And I am!!!!
God doesn’t make junk!!!
Thus, I will continue to live up to the promise I made my dynamic daughter over 12 years ago while she was still in my womb…to never ever speak negatively about myself.  To always show her through my life and love that we are defined not by what we look like but by our heart.
And you know what if I have to never run again, never have caffeine or wine again, never stay up late again, and weigh a bit more than my mind thinks I should than that’s OK.  Because the picture of Health isn’t always what it appears to be.
I love what Maddy Moon shared about how she experienced being at her leanest and how it about destroyed her.

AS we raise dynamic daughters to become wonderful warrior women we must be willing to always evaluate our own self…
What are the things that we value:
vanity over virtue?!
Ascetics over health?!
Pain over purpose!?

So I again say…I am okay with if I can’t ever run again.  And I will continue to show my daughter through my actions:
I am a valuable amazing person just as I am!!!

I love my life….especially with all it’s challenges….all its hurts, pains, struggles….because I continue  to grow and learn from each experience.  And I continue to experience God’s amazing power through my weakness!

Ephesians 5:29

For no one ever hated his own flesh,
but nourishes and cherishes it,
just as Christ does the church.

ARMOR YOUR DYNAMIC DAUGHTER WITH FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE….TO FEED HER MIND, BODY, AND SOUL….TO BECOME THE WONDERFUL WARRIOR WOMAN….SHE IS DESTINED TO BE!

hugs, prayers, and lots of blessings,
~Kelly 😉

Day 3: Groove to the Gilmore Girls

This was on a shopping back for a business in Colorado…
….I loved what it said!

I have learned exercising, fitness, movement has cycles and I MUST listen to what my body needs.

I approach raising my daughter in a very similar fashion.  I take note of things she is interested in and use that to my advantage to accomplish a goal or growth opportunity I may want her to experience.

She recently has been interested in using her first morning hour before lessons to watch a bit of tv: Jesse, Once Upon a Time, or Gilmore Girls.

I have wanted her to have a bit more structured or consistance exercise in her every day life.

I have always enjoyed working out first thing in the morning before she wakes up.  I usually work out while praying my rosary or watching something insirational or educational or both :)…..

Out of all that….ah…..the birth of my outside of the box approach of her recieving what she wants while I recieve what I want….and we get to do it together…bond…and have a built in support system for each other.

I have embraced the shift of my morning and am enjoying having the opportunity to remember to take each opportunity to learn and grow with and from each other.

So…this is what my morning looks like for now…who knows how long this season will last…but for now I love it…and am embracing it….

Upon waking I have been praying my rosary while “walking” throughout the house sweeping, mopping, laundry, dishes….meal prep.   This gives me a great way to warm up my body with nice simple movement, get some household things done, all the while remembering how Mary truly walked away from her will inorder to live and breath ONLY God’s WILL!  What a beautiful and lovely way to start my day.

Then once I wake my dynamic daughter….I set up our living room for our movement/workout session to Gilmore Girls….or Jesse.   It’s perfect.  It allows us to do a HIIT kind of workout.  We rotate between the mini trampoline, stepper, weights, and/or body strength movements.  I set the timer for 2 minutes and we have to rotate between stations every 2 minutes.  We proceed to watch, laugh, move, sweat, and have lots of morning moving fun!

What can we all learn from this?

What do you like doing first thing in the morning?  Can you add even 10 minutes of movement/strength in a HIIT fashion workout that gets you breathing heavy, moving fast, gaining strength and raising your body temp!?

Do you watch the news?   Set a timer for 1 minute jumping jacks, 1 min push ups, 1 min. lunges….repeat 5 times….you’ve accomplished 15 minutes of a simple work out, caught the news and are ready to conquer the world.

Do you have to run around first thing in the moring getting kiddos ready, making lunches, convinced you don’t have time for strength….a working out?!

From room to room, do lunges instead of walking.  Do 10 burpees at each kiddos bed; jumping jacks while you are waiting for your coffe to brew.

When you make movement a normal part of your life, you feel normal, you feel alive, you find yourself not focusing on negative thoughts and not obsessing about unhealthy attitudes toward yourself.

Huge bonus to all of this?  You are setting an excellent example for your children (especially daughters)  how to love yourself and do something for yourself that includes them in your everyday life….your everyday way of nurturing yourself: MIND, BODY, AND SOUL!

Todays scripture to focus on is also a prayer….reflect on….

HAIL MARY….FULL OF GRACE….THE LORD IS WITH THEE….BLESSED ARE YOU AMONG WOMEN….AND BLESSED IS THE FRUIT OF YOUR WOMB….JESUS….

HOLY MARY….MOTHER OF GOD…PRAY FOR US SINNERS…NOW…AND AT THE HOUR OF OUR DEATH…..AMEN!!!
